Dealing with food waste is a time, energy and space consuming process, generally considered as non-profit generating, however, kitchen food waste, managed and correctly handled, can be a cost-efficient, sustainable and environmentally important resource.Efficiently managing food waste is an acknowledged strength of Meiko UK Limited. Over the last few years the company has launched a number of food waste handling products that complement its core dishwashing business, as well as delivering a fully integrated solution at all levels. The product range includes traditional food waste disposers suitable for sink, bench, or freestanding applications; under table and freestanding food waste dewatering units that prepare food waste for in-vessel composting units or for Anaerobic Digestion; and, a state of the art vacuum system that transports food waste through a pipe network at a speed in the region of 25m/second to a remotely sited tank - where it is stored and routinely removed by tanker vehicle to a composting facility or BioGas production plant and used as an alternative renewable energy source.
